Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF)
The WTB is affiliated with the Musculoskeletal Transplant
Foundation (MTF), an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB)
accredited tissue bank. MTF is the largest non-profit tissue bank in
the United States. Affiliation with MTF not only brings an enhanced
level of service to the Wisconsin Tissue Bank, but also allows us to
have access to the tools and resources that can help expand
services, increase referrals and donation rates.
All policies and procedures for musculoskeletal donor screening,
testing and recovery are established and approved by the Medical
Board of Trustees of the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation. This
Board is composed of physicians from the member institutions on the
Foundation and experts in this field.
MTF maintains a balanced allocation system for tissue
distribution. Tissues processed by MTF are first prioritized back to
the donor hospital, then to hospitals in the area and lastly they
are offered to practitioners within the recovery region. Simply put,
tissues donated in your community are being utilized in your
community.
